"In the first One-Day International (ODI) match between India and West Indies, there was an interesting and amusing sight when Suryakumar Yadav stepped onto the field wearing a jersey that wasn't his usual one.

More About Sanju Samson

Behind Surya's shirt, the name and number of wicketkeeper Sanju Samson were written, which immediately caught the attention of fans online. Samson's fans had been disappointed not to see him in the playing eleven for India, but SKY (Suryakumar Yadav) made sure that 'Samson' was present on the field in his own unique way.

According to a source from the BCCI, it was confirmed on Friday morning that there was an equipment error for SKY, as the kit provided to him was too small in size. While he was able to do a photoshoot in his jersey, he preferred to play in a larger kit.

"There was a problem with the size of his jersey. We were informed about this two days before the match. He will get his new jersey after the second ODI, as BCCI has sent it along with the Indian team's selected players for the T20 series. Until then, he will be wearing his teammate's jersey."

This series, organized by Adidas, is India's first white-ball series in the Caribbean. However, Suryakumar will have to wait until the end of the ODIs in Tarouba to get his modified jersey, which he can also wear in the entire T20I series.

India has had logistical issues on the Caribbean tour for the second year in a row. Last year, the T20 series was postponed due to delays in taking the team's equipment from Trinidad to St. Kitts.

Apart from the jersey mix-up, the match turned out to be a comfortable victory for India, as Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav troubled the West Indies batting lineup and provided an easy chase for the spectators.

The Indian leadership was criticized for tinkering with the batting order, including Yadav, who came at number 3 and scored 19 runs off 25 balls.

Whether SKY will remain a part of the ODI team for the rest of the series or not remains to be seen, as he was asked to start in the middle order, which is not his usual position. Yadav has struggled in ODIs in his career, while Samson has an average of 66 in this format, and this year, he might get a chance to audition for India's preparations for the ODI World Cup at the end of the year."
